Squared-Circled Themed Headlamps.
The unique design of the squared-circle projector beam headlamps gives the Fusion an aristocratic distinction. The squared-circle theme of the headlamps is mirrored in the backup lamp housings, set within the clear-lens tail lamps and accentuated by chrome bezels. |

Stunning Exterior.
The Fusion’s sleek athletic appearance is created by a long, downward sweeping hood, a high short rear deck and a shear tail topped by a horizontal “greenhouse” (glass area). The self-confident front end is complemented by a three-bar chromed grille, centering the multi-elemental projector beam headlamps. Just below in the lower fascia, are two more chromed bars and bright-rimmed projector beam fog lamps (Fusion SEL). Dual chrome tailpipe tips (Fusion SEL V6) finish off the luxurious exterior of the Ford Fusion. |

Well-Crafted Interior.
Inside the spacious cabin, the theme of bold design combined with supreme functionality continues. Example: the Fusion key, with buttons for the doors, trunk and panic alarm, all smartly integrated. Further examples:

Ride and Comfort
|

Supremely Quiet.
Silence is golden. That was the mantra of the Ford engineers who worked tirelessly when it came to stifling noise and vibration in the 2006 Fusion. Extensive use of sound insulation in key areas and sound-damping mastic under the floor reduces road and wind noise intrusion. In addition, the specially designed side mirrors, deflect wind downward away from the windows to help reduce wind noise. |

Under The Skin.
The Fusion offers a lively 160-horsepower I4 engine and 5-speed manual transmission, a partnership with equal parts of excitement and efficiency. Also available is the V6 with an adrenalin-boosting 221-horsepower and a 6-speed automatic transmission (standard with the V6). |

Chassis.
Ford’s engineering team made a number of critical changes to give the Fusion its own, unique driving dynamics. For starters, the Fusion’s CD3 platform was widened and lengthened to create a larger cabin area. The torsional rigidity of the already stiff base architecture was improved by 12.7%, giving the Fusion a rock-solid platform that enhances ride, handling and crash protection, while reducing noise and vibration. |

Suspension.
A multi-link 4-wheel independent suspension system with front and rear anti-sway bars limits lateral forces for more composure. The suspension system provides a smooth ride and added control for precise and confident cornering. It also keeps suspension movement at a lower plane relative to the trunk floor, eliminating the need for large shock towers that reduce trunk cargo space. |

Comfort Features.
You would expect to pay more for features such as power adjustable heated side mirrors, speed-sensitive windshield wipers, a message centre with trip computer, six-way power driver’s seat and steering-wheel mounted audio controls for the AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system, but they all come standard on the 2007 Ford Fusion. |

Safety First.
Working with computer-aided design, Ford engineers built the Fusion to exacting standards to help achieve impressive inherent crash worthiness. The safety cell diverts crash energy away from occupants. Seamlessly-welded steel sheets in the B Pillar bring added strength. The comprehensive restraint systems – found in the standard Personal Safety System™* and the available Enhanced Safety Package – puts the Fusion at the forefront of safety technology. And because avoiding a collision is your best line of defence, Fusion has standard 4-wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) for all models and electronic traction assist for all V6 models. To protect your Fusion from prying hands, the standard SecuriLock® anti-theft system encodes the ignition key with one of billions of security codes each time the engine is turned off. |

Enhanced Safety Package.
Available as an option on the Fusion SE and SEL, the Enhanced Safety Package, adds three key embellishments to Fusion’s impressive list of standard safety and security features. The seatback-mounted side-impact airbags help provide torso protection for front-seat occupants in certain side impacts. Included as well is the two-row side curtain air bags, which help provide head protection for outboard occupants in the front and rear seats. To complete the package, a perimeter anti-theft alarm system detects attempts to gain illegal entry through the doors, hood or trunk, and automatically activates the headlamps, flashers and horn when triggered. |

Composite Material.
A polycarbonate-and-polyester composite material – with a steel-like tensile strength of 12,000 lb. per square inch – resides behind the front fascia and provides the impact-absorbing benefits of a conventional protruding bumper. |
 |
Crush Rails.
Front and rear crush rails are engineered to deform progressively, which helps absorb energy in the event of a collision. |
 |
Rocker Panels.
Fully boxed, dual-phase rocker panels take energy not absorbed by the bumper and crush rails and channel it rearward, under the passenger compartment, and away from the vehicle occupants. |
 |
B-Pillars.
Seamlessly welded two-piece B-pillars use high-strength steel in the top section to help prevent intrusion in a side-impact collision; lower tensile-strength steel in the bottom section helps absorb energy and direct it away through the rocker panels. |
 |
Foam Blocks.
Energy-absorbing foam blocks behind each door trim panel are strategically positioned at chest-and hip-level to cushion the blow from a side impact collision. |
 |
Integrated Keyfob.
The 2006 Fusion is the first Ford to feature an integrated keyfob, combining the vehicle key and the remote keyless entry system’s keyfob transmitter into one compact and easy-to-use piece. |
